Stop Violence Against Women!

Today is the International Day Against Violence Against Women, however, on this problem should be work 365 days a year!

The Center for Security, Investigation and Defense DBA believes that all organizations must be organized, above all at the local level, in order to address the issue of violence against women. First of all, education for the purpose of prevention, but it is necessary to encourage women to report violence. Also, local governments that should take the lead, it is necessary to organize workshops with psychologists as well as train self-defense for women.

The Center for Security, Investigation and Defense DBA hereby invites all organizations and local governments to participate in such workshops and education.

We must not forget the statistics that constantly tell us that we have to deal more seriously with the problem of violence against women. It is certainly commendable that the MUP has seriously addressed this problem and has done a lot of it not only for the victims of violence, but has also introduced serious training of its members dealing with this issue, so that there is already a professional staff that should also be involved with non-governmental organizations and local self-government in organizing education and workshops.

The statistics warn us that over 600 (reported) violence is carried out on a monthly basis. Since the beginning of the implementation of the Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the police pronounced 10,504 emergency measures for the prohibition of contact and approach to the victim of violence, or the removal of the abuser from the apartment. During 2017, 26 women were killed in domestic and partner violence in Serbia.
